Voice Lessons in Surrey, Langley, White Rock | At-Home Music Lessons
Michelle I is a teacher at heart and her first love is music.
She holds a BC Teacher's Certificate and taught high school choir
and band for years. She has a BA in Music (vocal major) and minor
in Education from Trinity Western University and a BEd from UBC.
Musical experiences from around the world have enriched her range
of style and she creatively draws students into the journey of
being the best musician and singer they can be.
Michelle grew up in White Rock and has loved music and singing
since she was a little girl. Music has always been a huge part
of her life - choir, band, music theatre, solos - performing and
directing. Some highlights include: provincial honour choirs; the
Vancouver Bach choir and VSO; the African Children's choir -
travelling the USA, rehearsing and directing; teaching high
school choir and band in White Rock; travelling with several
performance groups; playing trombone in a jazz band; singing
and soloing with various Gospel choirs in Canada and the US, most
recently at CLA; recording projects; singing and dancing with
Africans in Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya and Uganda.
Michelle's top musical styles include: R&B, jazz,
black gospel, pop, broadway, world music - especially African
and Latino. She's classically trained and proficient in that
style, but it's not her favourite. She takes the best vocal
and musical concepts from her training and transposes it
into what you need to know to be the most fabulous musician
you can be.
Singers are musicians who carry their unseen instrument with
them. It's not just about your vocal cords; it's about your
whole being - body, mind, spirit. A great singer has all
3 working together in flawless harmony. Is this easy? It can
be, but it takes awareness, practicing the right things and overall
health. Michelle will clearly break down the steps to make this
your vocal reality.
