- There are plenty of good schools out there. You can find
a comparison
chart that looks at the various services and prices of some of
the best and most recognizeable schools in town by clicking here.
- All charges are in Canadian Dollars ($CAD).
Registration
- We offer a rolling registration throughout the year, so you can
register any time. Most families start in September and
continue through the school year.
- When registering before August 15th, returning families have
scheduling priority.
- Before we recommend a teacher, we like to meet with the student
for an assessment. This allows us to match them with the best
possible teacher for their interests, abilities, and learning
style.
- We have a minumum registration of 2 months, and require 1 month
notice to cancel lessons.
Scholarships
- In partnership with an anonymous local business we are able to
offer a limited number of partial scholarships.
- Families must be able to demonstrate low income and / or
hardship to qualify.
- Scholarships will be reviewed quarterly. Students must
maintain and be able to demonstrate a minimum of 30 minutes for 4
days each week to continue to qualify for the
scholarship.

Lessons Availability
- Although we offer 30 minute lessons, we have a per-visit
minimum of 45 minutes. This is due to the nature of
the time it takes for teachers to travel to studets
homes.
- If a student cannot meet the minimum requirement, but would
still like 30-minute lessons, we can make them available for an
additional $5 per lesson.
- A parent/guardian or other adult must be home for the duration
of all lessons involving minors. If an adult is not present
the teacher is required to leave and that days lesson is counted as
a no-show. Parents are welcome, but not required, to
observere any or all of the lessons at their discretion.
Scheduling
- Lesson times are the same every week.
- Please request all lesson
cancellations here.
- Each student may cancel up to 2 lessons per semester, up to a
maximum 4 per school year. The cancelled lessons are
non-refundable, but we will provide an opportunity to make-up the
lessons either during the year, or at the end of the year. If
the student chooses not to make-up the lessons at the available
times, the lessons will be considered forfeit.
- These cancellations can be for any reason
(sickness/vacation/etc.)
- in the case of sickness, if you are unable to give 72 hours
notice, but you or the Resound office staff are able to reach the
teacher before the lesson begins, the lesson will be eligble for 1
of the 2 allowable make-up lessons for the semester. If you
or the office staff are unable to reach the teacher before the
lesson begins, the lesson will not be eligble for a make-up
lesson. Office hours are from 3:00-7:00 on Monday to Friday,
except stat hollidays, and during Christmas break.
- We require a minimum of 72 hours notice
for a lesson cancellation (except in the case of
sickness).
- In the rare event that a teacher is not available to teach a
scheduled lesson due to sickness, extreme weather, etc. and we are
not able to provide a suitable substitue teacher, our office will
try to rescheuld the lesson for another time that is convenient for
you. Failing that, or upon your specific request, we will
issue a credit for the value of the lesson to your account, which
will be applied to future lessons.
- Occasionally students forget about a lesson and are not home at
the schedule time. If this happens, the teacher will wait at
the students' home for half of the length of the lesson before
leaving. If the student shows up during that time, the
teacher will teach the remainder of the lesson. Otherwise,
the lesson is considered a no-show. No make-up lessons are
available for no shows or partial lessons due to student
lateness.
- Due to the nature of travelling between student's homes, please
expect the teacher to arrive within 5 minutes on either side of the
scheduled lesson time. (ie. if your lesson time is at 3:30,
expect your teacher between 3:25 and 3:35).
- In the case of dangerous weather conditions, the teacher will
call you if they are not able to make it for that days lesson, and
reschedule at a time that is convenient for you.
- Many students have plans for National holidays, so we take them
off as well. You can find our exact schedule here.
Payment
- Payment is made through the students choice of automatic
monthly bank payments, or automatic monthly credit card
payments. All payments are processed on the 1st of the month
in which the lessons are scheduled.
- If a student needs to cancel their lessons permanently, there
is a 30-day cancellation policy.
- There is a yearly Admin / Photocopy fee of $25. This pays
for all photocopies and handouts the teachers require for the years
lessons plus a student binder on their first lesson.
- Any music books that the teacher recommends are additional, and
can be purchased from a music store, or supplied by Resound.

RESOUND hires only the finest teachers available, accepting less
than 3% of teachers who apply. Teachers are vetted based on
experience, education, and - most importantly - their ability to
TEACH (not just play great music). We guarantee that we will
find the right teacher for you. If you are not satisfied with
your lessons at any time, we will work within your schedule and
ours to find the right one for you.
If you try us out and, for any reason, don't feel that we are
the right fit you - you will be reimbursed for your first lesson
and given our best wishes.
