School and Lesson Policies

  1. All of our updated pricing information can be found here.

  2. There are plenty of good schools out there.  You can find a comparison chart that looks at the various services and prices of some of the best and most recognizeable schools in town by clicking here.

  3. All charges are in Canadian Dollars ($CAD).

  1. We offer a rolling registration throughout the year, so you can register at any time.
Most families start in September and continue through the year.

  2. Before we recommend a teacher, we like to meet with the student first for an assessment.  This allows us to match them with the best possible teacher based on their goals, interests, abilities, and learning style.

  3. We have a minimum registration of 2 months, and require 30-days notice to discontinue lessons.

  4. Music lessons continue into the summer. If you are wishing to take time off lessons in the summer months, simply provide the office with 30-days notice.

  1. In partnership with an anonymous local business we are able to offer a limited number of partial scholarships.

  2. Families must be able to demonstrate low income and / or hardship to qualify.

  3. Scholarships will be reviewed quarterly.  Students must maintain and be able to demonstrate a minimum of 30 minutes for 4 days each week to continue to qualify for the scholarship.

  4. If you believe that your family would benefit from and qualify for a scholarship, you can apply here.

Lessons Availability

  1. Although we offer 30 minute lessons, we have a per-visit minimum of 45 minutes.  This is due to the nature of the time it takes for teachers to travel to studets homes.

  2. If a student cannot meet the minimum requirement, but would still like 30-minute lessons, we can make them available for an additional $5 per lesson.

  3. A parent/guardian or other adult must be home for the duration of all lessons involving minors.  If an adult is not present the teacher is required to leave and that days lesson is counted as a no-show.  Parents are welcome, but not required, to observere any or all of the lessons at their discretion.

Scheduling & Cancellations

  1. Lesson times are the same every week.

  2. If you need to cancel an upcoming lesson, please request all lesson cancellations here.

  3. These cancellations can be for any reason (sickness/emergency/vacation etc.).

  4. There is no limit on the amount of lessons you can cancel.

  5. Cancelled lessons are non-refundable, but given enough notice, can be eligible for attendance at one of Resound School of Music's specialty Master Classes.

    •  These Master Classes will be conducted by many of your favourite teachers, but instead will provide a focus on other areas of musicianship such as theory, songwriting, and improvisation, as well as live performance.

    • These classes will be taking place on the last Saturday of each month. All students are welcome to attend. The tuition is $50.00 for each session, but any students eligible for make up lessons will be able to attend as many of them as they would like for FREE.

    • More information on Master Classes and scheduling are available here

  6. In order to attend the Master Classes, our office requires a minimum of 24 hours notice for a lesson cancellation (except in the case of sickness or emergency).  Any cancellations made after that time will be considered a "no-show", and will not be eligible for Master Class attendance. In the case of sickness or emergency, and you are unable to give 24 hours notice, but you or the Resound office staff (see office hours above) are able to reach the teacher before the lesson begins, the lesson will still be eligible for Master Class attendance. If you or the office staff are unable to reach the teacher before the lesson begins, the lesson will still be considered a "no-show".

  7. In the rare event that a teacher is not available to teach a scheduled lesson due to sickness, extreme weather, etc. and we are not able to provide a suitable substitute teacher, we will reschedule the lesson for another time that is convenient for you.

  8. Occasionally students forget about a lesson and are not home at the schedule time.  If this happens, the teacher will wait at the students' home for half of the length of the lesson before leaving.  If the student shows up during that time, the teacher will teach the remainder of the lesson.  Otherwise, the lesson is considered a no-show.  No make-up lessons are available for no shows or partial lessons due to student lateness.

  9. Due to the nature of travelling between student's homes, please expect the teacher to arrive within 5 minutes on either side of the scheduled lesson time.  (ie. if your lesson time is at 3:30, expect your teacher between 3:25 and 3:35).

  10. Many students have plans for National holidays, so we take them off as well.  You can find our exact schedule here.

  1. Payment is made through the students choice of automatic monthly bank payments, or automatic monthly credit card payments.  All payments are processed on the 1st of the month in which the lessons are scheduled.

  2. If a student needs to cancel their lessons permanently, there is a 30-day cancellation policy.

  3. There is a yearly Admin / Photocopy fee of $25.  This pays for all photocopies and handouts the teachers require for the years lessons plus a student binder on their first lesson.

  4. Any music books that the teacher recommends are additional, and can be purchased from a music store, or supplied by Resound.

Satisfaction Guarantee

RESOUND hires only the finest teachers available, accepting less than 3% of teachers who apply.  Teachers are vetted based on experience, education, and - most importantly - their ability to TEACH (not just play great music). We guarantee that we will find the right teacher for you.  If you are not satisfied with your lessons at any time, we will work within your schedule and ours to find the right one for you.

If you try us out and, for any reason, don't feel that we are the right fit you - you will be reimbursed for your first lesson and given our best wishes.
